ORDER OF WORSHIP
Call To Worship
Psalm 67 : 1 – 7
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us— 2 so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. 3 May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. 4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth. 5 May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. 6 The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us. 7 May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
Worship Through Songs
Good day dear brothers and sisters in Christ. May this day find you abiding in Christ and experiencing his abiding words in us.
“Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”—this is Jesus’ powerful counter to Satan’s insistence that He turn stones to bread to not only satisfy his hunger, but to ultimately to prove that He is the Son of God. It was 40 days before this encounter that Jesus, at his baptism in the Jordan, heard his Father declare before heaven and earth, that ‘‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’ Now, weak, hungry and alone—tested and tempted in every way yet never succumbing—Jesus faced the adversary holding on to nothing but the truthfulness of his Father’s words and the faithfulness of his Father’s heart.
If Jesus the perfect Son of God lived by every word that comes from God, how much more vital it is for us—his weak and often faltering followers—to hear from our Father’s heart and hold on to what He says. Like the Psalmist in the 119th Psalm, may our hearts cry out to God…
“I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.”
Yes, we will not neglect God’s ancient yet timeless word—truthful and trustworthy, just as He is. We will study it; remember it; and hide it in our hearts. We will delight in it; follow it; and build our lives on it. For they are words of unchanging truth, and words of eternal life.
“FATHER, may our lives and our fellowship be marked by
works of faith, labors of love, and steadfastness of hope.
By Your grace, we are holy people, beloved and chosen by You,
and when the gospel came to us,
it came not only in word but also in power,
in the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction.
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves
to claim anything as coming from us,
but our sufficiency is from You.
You are the one who accomplished our salvation,
turning us from worldly things we once idolized
to serve You, the living and true God.
You are the One who awakened us to receive Your Word—
not as the word of men but for what it really is:
the Word of God, which performs its perfect work
in all who believe.
May we be imitators of our Lord Jesus Christ
and godly examples to one another.
Help us grow into full maturity and Christlikeness.
We know that the necessary nourishment
for that kind of growth is found only in Your Word.
We cannot thrive by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds out of Your mouth.”*
Speak to us once more through your word and by your Spirit make us hear and receive your truth in our hearts—for it is life and breath to us. For Christ’s sake, amen. *[John Macarthur]
Anthem
This Is My Holy Place
Scripture Reading
James 2 : 1 – 13
1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?
8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
2 若 有 一 個 人 帶 著 金 戒 指 , 穿 著 華 美 衣 服 , 進 你 們 的 會 堂 去 ; 又 有 一 個 窮 人 穿 著 骯 髒 衣 服 也 進 去 ;
