ORDER OF WORSHIP

Call To Worship

Psalm 113 : 1 – 3

1 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, you His servants; praise the name of the Lord. 2 Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. 3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.

Worship Through Songs

Good day precious Children of God, citizens of heaven and co-heirs with Christ.

In 2 Timothy, Paul warned of the increasing godlessness of the last days … “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.  For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power;”.

Now it would be disturbing enough to consider this state of affairs in the world at large—outside the kingdom of God. What is even more troubling is the fact that some of descriptions above may even pertain to some who claim to be within the kingdom. Although we acknowledge that we, who are followers of Christ, are works-in-progress and obviously not perfect, we also must be wisely discerning that the direction and drift of our lives points to the living reality of Jesus present and at work within us—that although we sometimes fall into sin, we no longer love to sin nor let it define who we are.

Our falling– because of the Holy Spirit’s work—is swiftly followed by contrition, confession, and repentance, for our Father desires that we do not long forego the joy of our salvation, nor our intimacy with him.  For as John writes in his epistle … “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;” but “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Yet, we would be wise to take heed, and see if we are actually of the faith.  For as Jesus warned in one of his parables of the kingdom, the tares were allowed to grow with the wheat, until the day of harvest came, and they were separated—the grain for keeping, and the weeds for burning.

Let us then look carefully and take stock of the condition of our hearts.  Let us, once again, allow God, before whom nothing is hidden, to search us and know us—to test our hearts and see if we really do belong to him; that we really do know him and his Son whom He has sent; that we do realize that we truly have no other recourse, no other hope for salvation and eternal life than the one that He graciously provided in the complete, perfect, and finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.  Then, from the depths of our being—from the position of being forgiven, accepted, and renewed—worship him in love.

O God, You are the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, the One who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To You be honor and eternal dominion.

When Your kindness and love appeared, O God my Savior, You saved me, not by works of righteousness that I had done, but according to Your mercy. You saved me through the washing of regeneration and renewal by Your Holy Spirit, whom You poured out on me abundantly through Jesus Christ my Savior, so that having been justified by Your grace, I might become an heir, having the hope of eternal life.

In You, O Christ, are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
In You, O Christ, all the fullness of the Godhead lives in bodily form.
I have set my hope on You, the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
In Jesus’ name and for your glory, Amen.’ [Kenneth Boa (based on Scripture)]

Scripture Reading

Matthew 13 : 47 – 50

47 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. 48 When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away the bad. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
