Worship Through Songs

Good day beloved of the Lord.

Let us meditate on these truths from the gospel of John…

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it…

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God…

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth…

 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” [John 1:1-18 selected; 3:16-17; 17:3]

PRAYER:

‘Holy God, we look to You through the reflection of You in the Person of Jesus Christ. We lift up Your name in praise and worship because of the great love You have shown us through the revelation of Your Son. When we feel alone, You are near. When we think of giving up, You keep us going. This is because You are not some far-off and distant God with whom we have no contact. And because You have explained Yourself through the life of Christ, we worship You for giving us the ability to understand and know You through Him. For Christ’s sake, Amen.’ [adapted from Tony Evans]

‘Lord Jesus, gracious and merciful, search our thoughts, pardon our sins, and cleanse our hearts anew.

Lord Jesus, sufficient and strong, strengthen us in our weakness, fill us in our emptiness, and lift us under the winds of your victory.

Lord Jesus, righteous and true, lead us on, carry us through, and bring us safely home.

Lord Jesus, ever-living and ever-present, hold us, secure us, and assure us—for we can never make it without You. Not now, not ever.

For your Name’s sake, Amen.’

He Who Was Dead

Scripture Reading

For Rev. Bob Long
Isaiah 9 : 1 – 7 (ESV)

1 But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.
You have multiplied the nation;
    you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
    as with joy at the harvest,
    as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
For the yoke of his burden,
    and the staff for his shoulder,
    the rod of his oppressor,
    you have broken as on the day of Midian.
For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
    and every garment rolled in blood
    will be burned as fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
    there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
    to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
    from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Philippians 2 : 5 – 11 (ESV)

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

他 本 有 神 的 形 像 , 不 以 自 己 與 神 同 等 為 強 奪 的 ;

反 倒 虛 己 , 取 了 奴 僕 的 形 像 , 成 為 人 的 樣 式 ;
