ORDER OF WORSHIP

Call To Worship

Psalm 27 : 4

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.

詩篇 27 : 4

有一件事,我曾求耶和華,我仍要尋求,就是一生一世住在耶和華的殿中,瞻仰他的榮美,在他的殿裡求問。

Worship Through Songs

Blessed New Year Church. We thank God for carrying us through the past year and at same time we look to him for the grace and strength to face another one.

One of the most profound teaching in Scripture regarding our salvation in Christ is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17, which states…’ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’ [ESV] ‘ This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’ [NLT]

This ‘newness’ pertains not just to a fresh version of the old kind, but to a different and superior sort of life.  It is a kind of life which was previously not ours to begin with, but then was given or imputed on us—the very life of Christ.  It is our priceless treasure in jars of clay, and our hope of glory.

Where once there was alienation from God, now there is reconciliation;

where once there was condemnation, now there is acceptance;

where once there was darkness, now there is light;

where once there was death, now there is life;

where once there was despair and defeat, now there is hope and victory.

As The Voice Translation notes expound, “Paul explains how the Spirit transforms believers so they are conformed to the image of Jesus. He now clarifies that this change means believers embody Jesus’ death through suffering and participate in His present, risen life. This life is ultimately experienced through the resurrection of the body in the future, but it also consists of an inward renewal in the midst of the challenges and troubles of daily existence.”

What this means, for us believers today, is that we have the constant presence and power of the resurrected Son of God dwelling inside of us.  This means, among other things, that we are never truly alone, nor are we helplessly our own as we face the daily realities of our journey with Christ.  For as children of God, Jesus is not only with us, but He is also within us—holding us together; carrying us through; leading us on.  Therefore, even as we face a difficult and uncertain new year, we can still have peace in our souls and joy in our hearts—for the One who loves us with an everlasting love, and gave himself for us, has made his dwelling within us—never to leave.  Hallelujah! What an assurance. What a relief. What a delight. Christ is ours, and we are his—forever.  Let us thus rejoice in the promise, the power and the presence of our God and Savior this day.

‘Precious Lord and Loving Heavenly Father, we rejoice in You this day! We come in the name of Jesus Christ your Son—the spotless Lamb, our righteousness. We rest in the acceptance and affection You have for us because of him, and we delight in your pardon, your power, and your presence in our lives. When the world around us give nothing but grief, You are our joy. When uncertain days bring nothing but trouble, You are our peace. When people around us neglect, reject and oppress, You look upon us with tenderness and embrace us in loving-kindness. What a wonderful Father You are. What an awesome God. We worship You today.

In these turbulent times help us, Father, to find our rest in your sufficiency—for You are the only Self-sufficient God. In You there is no lack, no weakness, and no limitation. You are more than equal to our every need. Your supply to us, in Christ, is more than enough to meet the most difficult of days.  Turn our gaze every upward—to your throne in heaven and to the things that are eternal—that we may order our lives according to you plans, pursuing your purposes. Cause us to understand more and more, what it means to find true life in Jesus—as we deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow him.  Incline our ears to your truth, unite our hearts to revere your name and satisfy us with your unfailing love every day of this year, and all our remaining years. For Christ’s sake. Amen.’

Scripture Reading

Romans 12 : 1 -2

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

1st Corinthians 11 : 1

1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Hebrews 12 : 1 – 2

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
